God Heals Some Things Eternally And Some Things Temporarily

He knows best how long His healing needs to last.

Matthew 9:29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. 30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. Read also Matthew 9:27-31.

Today’s text has to do with healing: healing of body, mind, soul, and spirit. Though there are many points of view about healing, every person who knows the Lord Jesus and believes the Word of God agrees on at least two basic truths:

God is God and He can heal. He built our bodies and He can heal them. There’s no question in anyone’s mind who reads and believes his Bible that Almighty God, who created us and redeemed us through the Lord Jesus Christ, can heal us.

God does heal, at times and in situations where it pleases Him, and where people meet His conditions. It’s evident, to some of us at least, that God doesn’t always choose to heal. I’ve conducted quite a few funerals in my time. But God can and does heal when it is in His perfect will and when persons meet His conditions.

How precisely and beautifully our Lord Jesus met the needs of people during His earthly ministry. Matthew’s Gospel speaks plainly about the blind men who followed the Lord Jesus. When they cried out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” He asked, before restoring their sight, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” My friend, do you believe that the Lord Jesus can do anything you need Him for today?

Many people lack the power of God in this area of bodily healing because they don’t really believe God can heal them. Decide in your own heart today how much you believe your God can do. After you’ve settled that, you’ll be able to share with others these precious Scripture passages where our Lord Jesus heals eyes and bodies, minds and hearts.
